Come join Texas Top Aviation on March 19th-22nd, 2024 in Grand Lake, OK at the Shangri-La Resort for the 2024 Texas Top Aviation Shangri-La Fly In. The Shangri-La Resort is home to 27 holes of pristine golf, split up into 9 hole tracks, each with their own challenges. Golfers will get to take their cuts on all 3 courses, the Legends Course, the Heritage Course and the Champions Course, vying for the title of 2024 Texas Top Aviation Fly In Tournament Champion. This year, we will also have a Par 3 tournament on the Shangri-La Resort’s Battlefield Par 3 Course on the afternoon of March 19th, 2024. A separate trophy, a small winners fee, and complete bragging rights will be bestowed upon the winner of the Par 3 Tournament.
The Texas Top Aviation Fly In is open to any and all aircraft owners from near and far. Prepare yourself for a few days of fun (golfing or the myriad of other activities that the Shangri-La Resort has to offer), refreshment, community, and a little bit of learning, all at the beautiful Shangri-La Resort.
The getaway begins with your arrival into the Grove Regional Airport (KGMJ) in Grove, OK. For those playing in the Par 3 tournament, it is recommended to arrive by noon on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024. For those only playing in the Texas Top Aviation tournament, arrival is recommended no later than the morning of Wednesday, March 20th, 2024. For those not playing golf, it is optional to arrive the morning of March 20th, but recommended to arrive by the afternoon of March 20th.
The Grove Airport FBO will be the host FBO for the 2024 Texas Top Aviation Shangri-La Fly In. There will be shuttle service to and from the hotel on Tuesday afternoon, March 19th as well as all day Wednesday, March 20th. Please plan your arrival time based on the scheduled shuttle times at the bottom of this page. Rental cars are also available with prior coordination with the FBO by calling (918) 786-6150.
On Tuesday afternoon, March 19th, 2024 at 2:30pm, the 2024 Texas Top Aviation Par 3 Shootout will take place. Participants have the option of putting an extra $100 apiece in a pot to make the stakes a little more interesting. It would be winner take all in a stroke play event on The Battlefield Par 3 Course, plus a trophy to put on your mantle.
For the early arrivers, breakfast and lunch on Wednesday morning, March 20th will be on your own. Wednesday afternoon marks the start of the 4th Annual Texas Top Aviation Fly In Golf Tournament. The tournament will be scored using Stroke Play based on net score (make sure to put in your handicap when registering. Don’t know your handicap? You can calculate it here). The Tournament will be two rounds and take place on the afternoons of March 20th and March 21st, 2023. Tee times begin at 1:00pm, so golfers are recommended to arrive at the Shangri-La Resort by 12:00pm on March 20th.
We will be having dinner both nights at the Shangri-La Resort in the Holderman Ballroom at 7:30pm.
After breakfast on your own on the morning of Thursday, March 21st, Texas Top Aviation will be presenting three aviation seminars. Paul New, expert Columbia, Cirrus, and Cessna mechanic and owner of Tennessee Aircraft Services, will be presenting at 830am on Owner Maintenance Management. Paul will be followed by Texas Top Aviation owner Hank Gibson, who will be presenting on several accidents and what pilots can learn from them. Scott Williams, owner of The General Aviation Law Firm, will finish up the morning with his presentation on LLC’s and Illegal Charters. Lunch on your own at the resort will follow the seminar before round two of the golf tournament tees off at 1:00pm. Our farewell dinner will be the evening of Thursday, March 21st at the Shangri-La Resort in the Holderman Ballroom at 7:30pm.
If a longer stay at the Shangri-La Resort is desired, please advise when registering. Longer stays will need to be arranged directly with the resort. Texas Top Aviation will provide contact information for the resort for longer stays.
Registration rates for the 2024 Texas Top Aviation Shangri-La Fly In will be as follows. The Battlefield Par 3 Shootout greens fee and all food and beverage costs will be billed directly to the attendee by the resort.
